This morning I taught a Sunday School in which a discussion emerged.
This particular discussion was about how as humans we are inherently born into and out of darkness-out of a sinful and into a sinful world. Ever since the fall in Eden we have begun our existences in darkness with the opportunity to experience light. John 1 says “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (Verses 4 & 5).
Christs death on the cross and his resurrection have provided for us a light, and a life, to live in which we are not deserving of, by our own merit. This is a truth I have known for a long time, but hearing it explained by one sixth grader to another was encouraging and also refreshing.
It was a great reminder that the life I live is because of the opportunity I am daily presented with to choose whether or not I want to live in the light or the darkness. My days are filled with decisions that are constantly pushing me closer to one or the other… which will it be today?
These thoughts have bled into another point.
Read on faithful readers; read on.
